Acadiana Spice website will have our on-line cookbook that we want to share with you; recipes we love to cook and eat. You can find the tabs on the left with some of our favorites. -- Da husband says, "Good food and good friends make for great fun ... dat's all you need."

I enjoy reading recipes and hearing stories about Louisiana's food. I love to hunt for the "old ones" that were used for daily meals instead of just the restraurant show stoppers.  My husband loves to cook and knows a lot about his home state of Louisiana, which makes for some great conversations concerning both his family's and this state's history and cuisine.  He makes a great jambalaya, and the recipe is to the left on the Jambalaya tab.

Did you know Red Beans and Rice is served mainly on Mondays?  In the "Good Old Days", Sunday dinner usually included a ham. The ham bone was saved, of course, and cooked with the red beans on the stove all day Monday, because the wash was always done on Monday. There was no time to both cook and wash clothes.

We hope that y'all will take time to read and discover some of the differences that make Louisiana so unique.
